Much of what we are taught about the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is about peace and told through a lens that minimizes the disruptive nature of his messages. King was far more radical than our present text books describe with quotes like: “A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.” Often not being a source of reflection, let us remember the more radical pieces of King’s legacy.
