“We can’t respond to everything, but with courage we can respond to some things”
– Bishop Mariann Budde
How do we respond to the seemingly random attacks on freedom in our civic and public life? One way is to begin to write a counter-story to what we witness unfolding. There is a connection between the rise in anti-immigrant, anti-trans*, and anti-choice movements and the unraveling of democratic norms. That through-line is control of bodies—where they can be, how they can look, and what one may do with one’s own body. How we resist is also embodied. Where we choose to be, what we choose to pay attention to, and who we are in relationship with.
Rev. Kevin (he/him) has been BuxMont UU Fellowship’s minister since 2018. Beyond congregational life, Kevin is Adjunct Faculty with the Humanist Studies Program of the American Humanist Association, tries to maintain a meditation practice, and loves (perhaps too much) using his Bullet Journal.
