Book Communion: The Giftschrank

View the Order of Service here.

Missed the service? You can view its recording on YouTube.

What do we do with dangerous stories and ideas? How do we balance censorship with a free exchange of ideas? Who gets to decide what is dangerous and what is not? Join us as we consider the history of the Giftschrank and how people have tried to navigate these questions over time.

Bring a book to exchange, one that mattered in your childhood or one you just read for the first time and made an impression. We will hold a Book Communion as part of this service so you will leave with a different book than you brought.

Rev. Kevin (he/him) has been BuxMont UU Fellowship’s minister since 2018. Beyond congregational life, Kevin is Adjunct Faculty with the Humanist Studies Program of the American Humanist Association, tries to maintain a meditation practice, and loves (perhaps too much) using his Bullet Journal. To read Rev. Kevin’s complete bio, visit the staff page of our website.
