Thanks to the facilitation and advocacy of Fred Suffian, member of both BuxMont and the Warrington Township Environmental Advisory Committee, two grants were received in 2009 to fund planting in the detention basin, along the creek, and in the new Memorial/Celebration Garden beds.  The purpose of both grants was to improve “riparian buffers” (creek-side vegetation to protect water quality) along the Little Neshaminy Creek in accordance with a commitment made as part of the Green Sanctuary initiative.  Warrington Township gave BuxMont additional money, shared out from its own grant from the League of Women Voters Citizen Education Fund.  This money was used to naturalize our detention basin (equipment rental and purchase of native shrubs).  A grant (with a 25% match provided by volunteer labor from BuxMont and the Central Bucks South High School Environmental Club) was received through the TreeVitalize Watersheds Program of the Pennsylvania DCNR. This grant funded the purchase of over 200 native trees and shrubs.

Fellowship members work throughout each growing season to maintain the gardens planted.
