Attention as a Practice of Connection

José Ortega y Gasset writes, “Tell me what you pay attention to and I will tell you who you are.” Our attention and how we focus it is one of our most important resources. It is why tech companies spend so much to keep our attention on their platforms. Attention is what dictates whether justice movements and governments rise or fall. And attention is what connects us to those we care for and what we care about most deeply.

Rev. Kevin (he/him) has been BuxMont UU Fellowship’s minister since 2018. Beyond congregational life, Kevin is Adjunct Faculty with the Humanist Studies Program of the American Humanist Association, tries to maintain a meditation practice, and loves (perhaps too much) using his Bullet Journal.
