During this year’s service dedicated to Samhain & Halloween, we turn to the concept of Memento Mori which means “remember you must die.” This reminder of our own mortality is there underneath the fun themes of our modern Halloween. We dress up, we watch scary movies, and we may also remember those we’ve lost. We mix together our reflections on mortality, our joys of the season, and our sadder memories too.
During this service, you are invited to bring the photo of a loved one, beloved friend, or animal companion you would like to remember. We will also hold our annual Halloween celebratory activities with a costume parade and a trunk or treat in the parking lot after the service. People of all ages are invited to wear their costumes!
Rev. Kevin (he/him) has been BuxMont UU Fellowship’s minister since 2018. Beyond congregational life, Kevin is Adjunct Faculty with the Humanist Studies Program of the American Humanist Association, tries to maintain a meditation practice, and loves (perhaps too much) using his Bullet Journal.
