T.S. Eliot wrote in “Little Gidding”: For last year’s words belong to last year’s language. And next year’s words await another voice.” As a new year begins, we will start by letting go of that which no longer serves us in a new tradition, our Fire Ceremony. Everyone present will be able to write something down that they want to release from the past year and be invited to set it ablaze at the beginning of the service. You will also be invited to claim a word for your upcoming year. This could be a word you choose and write down or you may let chance guide your year and choose a word from a bowl of many words.
