This Sunday’s programming is being offered both in-person and online.

In the 1980s, Barbara’s grandfather, Bill Thompson, the late Chief Whippoorwill of the Unalachtigo Tribe, gave Barbara the name “Bluejay”. In recent years, Barbara has served as Lenape Nation Tribal Secretary. She has taught children the history of the Lenape Nation through crafts and storytelling, including visits to numerous schools and children’s groups. She also has been involved in environmental issues, particularly working for clean water and protecting our Earth Mother. In addition, Barbara attends Lenape Language class in the Unami dialect to help keep an endangered language alive.

Barbara Michalski is well-versed in the activities and history of the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania and she educates the public about the Lenapehoking, the homeland of the Lenape, which includes eastern Pennsylvania. She will speak at BuxMont about who the Lenape were and who they are today, and also explain Lenape spirituality, which centers around Kishelemukonk, the Creator, and the belief in an interdependent web in nature.
