Juneteenth Celebration

You can view the Order of Service here.

This Sunday’s programming is being offered both in-person and online.

Juneteenth celebrates when Union Troops arrived at Galveston Bay, Texas on June 19, 1865, and announced freedom of the enslaved people of that state.  Juneteenth is a time to celebrate the historic progress of African Americans towards freedom, to remember the difficult barriers along the way, and to reflect on the challenges ahead in this journey toward freedom.  Terri Lyons is a writer and storyteller focused on African-American history.

Our speaker, Terri Lyons, will hold a Q&A session starting at noon in the Sanctuary. This will not include the same AV as the service, but we will have a computer set up for those at home to listen and ask questions.
