Yogapedia says awareness is a state of being conscious of one’s self and one’s surroundings. Sadguru, founder of Inner Engineering uses a wonderful metaphor. If you are in a dimly lit room you see less than when the room is fully lit. Awareness is turning up the voltage.

Let’s turn up the voltage together. Yoga and meditation teach us to be aware of one’s body, mind and breath, becoming more aware of the inner self. We can take those tools to art exploration, becoming aware of our hidden talents. We’ll discuss this topic to see how deeply it goes; how different it is for each of us. Or we can just listen and learn. Finally, we will bathe in assorted sounds making us aware of our senses and the mysticism around us.

**Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, called “dynamic sleep” is a deep meditation that brings you somewhere between a sleep and an awake state, where you explore the Five Koshas (sheaths or layers): Annamaya Kosha…the body; Pranamaya Kosha…energy; Vjanamaya Kosha…the intellect; and finally, Anandomaya Kosha…bliss.

Yoga Nidra has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, release tension and heal the body, so much so that it is effectively used to treat stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD and addictive behavior.
