Opened: Sunday, June 30, 2013
Ran through: Sunday, July 28, 2013
About the Artist:
Jane Magee Sowden, long time resident of Bucks County, has been involved in the visual arts since her earliest years: drawing, painting, weaving, sewing and designing whenever possible. A career as an artisan master seamstress has provided her the flexibility to care for family, home, business and creative pursuits.
Truman Capote said that life is a play with a bad third act, but Jane is working to pursue a good third act, seizing the opportunity to grow artistically in Bucks County.
Artist Statement:
My art attempts to infuse the practiced artisanship of my hands with directives of mind and heart.
Springing from seeds of creativity within all of us, works of art isolate and communicate winds of change. They offer surprising pleasure by contrasting the orderly with the disorderly, reality with fantasy, control with exuberance and passion.
To communicate, to nurture and to explore creativity and unique expression, these are my goals.
Nature and recycling are not just concepts or priorities to me, but the source of constant inspiration, wonderment and joy.
